2002 Wrap-Up

I thought 2002 would be a good year for In-NAFTO, but I didn’t realize how good. Not only did we increase our membership by about 50 percent, but we managed to host several basic FTO schools.

The Evansville Police Department cosponsored 2 basic FTO courses in 2002. The first was held in April and the second in August. Both schools went very well thanks to the great teaching and organization of the Evansville FTO unit. I would like to thank Gary Anderson, Chuck Knoll, and Debbie Thompson for their hard work.

Bloomington Police Department cosponsored their first FTO course in May of 2002 and it couldn’t have gone better. They had a good turnout and lots of interested in future courses which ensure that they will cosponsor more in the future.

Logansport Police Department also cosponsored their first FTO course in November of 2002. This was the first time In-NAFTO had the opportunity to put on a course in the northern half of the state, and this course ran smooth just as the others.

Finally, the state conference was held in December at the Bloomington Police Department. Not only did we have a day’s worth of instruction on problem solving for the FTO, but we also managed to elect the state officers for the next 2 years. Specific information about the state officers can be found on the officer’s page, but the list of elected officers follow;

State Director: Steven Kellams
Vice Director: Chuck Knoll
Secretary: Rob Smith
Treasurer: Jeff Alwine
Member at Large: Don Schmuhl

As you can see In-NAFTO had a big year in 2002, but we are not going to stop there. 2003 looks to be even better, so come back often.
